 Kennel Attendant - Lead

We are looking for highly motivated lead kennel attendant with 1 year experience as a lead kennel attendant or kennel manager. Only high-quality exceptional experience is practiced , so be ready for a challenging experience. The health, happiness and safety of our guests depend on your pet care knowledge, keen observation skills, and attention to detail. This position requires your full attention. It is detail oriented.

 

Our boarding facility is located on an acre with 3 separate buildings we offers a full range of boarding/grooming and daycare services. The facility is staffed 365 days per year and is exceptionally busy during holidays and the winter season. The ideal candidate will have availability and be willing to work additional shifts during those times.

 

Job Responsibilities:

  • Leadership - Maintain a positive, upbeat role, promote and exemplify our values and represents departmental objectives and interests to internal and external customers
  • Teamwork - Develop and promote teamwork and cooperation among co-workers
  • Safety - Comply with established safe work practices and attend to all safety-related training provided or made available by us.
  • Coordinate team of kennel techs in their daily duties; create a team-environment to ensure that all animals receive proper care
  • Oversee, train, and manage all Kennel assistant (scheduling, tasks, efficiencies, assist with job reviews)
  • Perform Kennel Attendant duties for gaps in schedule (call outs, vacation, short-staffed, running late, etc.)
  • Identify issues and suggest improvements to standard procedures
  • Work with manager to develop appropriate tasks and schedules for volunteers to assist in dog care-related duties
  • Develop and enforce safety protocols for dog care-related work (work safety, dog handling, chemicals, equipment)
  • Organized and able to work independently as well as with the team
  • Able to restrain animals, clean up after them, sweep/mop/clean the facility.
  • Be patient and able to deal with emergency situations
  • Be on your feet for most of the shift

 

The job requires bending, kneeling, lifting (up to 30 pounds, as necessary) and standing for long periods of time.
